PLANNING AHEAD

If you're looking to design a new salon or even just rethink your existing space, you may find yourself a little overwhelmed by the process. After all, you're a salon owner, not an architect. The Salon Planner on beautydesign.com, a division of Gamma & Bross, aims to help you conquer that obstacle.

Salon Planner allows you to play with furniture and layout options to easily design your salon.
Salon Planner allows you to play with furniture and layout options to easily design your salon.

The interactive Salon Planner, which is powered by Macromedia Flash 5 technology, allows you to use your salon's shape and dimensions to create a personalized, to-scale blueprint of your salon, including doors and windows. Once the background is set, you can add styling chairs and stations, shampoo units, reception desks, seating, manicure stations, display cases and more items from Gamma & Bross' line of high-end salon and spa furnishings to help you visualize what the completed space will look like. Users can click and drag the pieces around the salon to figure out the best layout and experiment with different furniture options to discover the best fit. Not all of Gamma & Bross' products are currently available in the program, but the site plans to continue to add to the gallery. Check out the Salon Planner at beautydesign.com. —L.M.
