Into the Wild

Celebrity hairstylist David Babaii has teamed up with his A-list client Kate Hudson to create haircare products that benefit both hair and the world. The David Babaii for WildAid line includes shampoos, conditioners and styling products that contain exotic natural ingredients and are free of parabens, sulfates and animal products. Along with acting as co-creator and spokesperson, Hudson was also Babaii's "guinea pig" while developing the line, ensuring that none of the products were tested on animals. Ten percent of the line's proceeds will benefit WildAid. db4wildaid.com —L.M.

Armchair Education

In response to a growing demand for haircolor education that isn't specific to a particular haircolor brand, color accessories company PRODUCT CLUB now offers technique-based classes and DVDs. The DVD collection, Beyond Basic Foiling, comprises three volumes, each with two different techniques developed by the Product Club education team. Techniques include Soft Dimensions, which incorporates lowlights and highlights to restore natural tone and add brightness; Splicing, a contemporary way to create seamless highlights while maintaining depth in the root area; and Puddling, a technique that results in a subtle cascade of color that increases in intensity as it reaches the ends of the hair. productclub.com —L.M.

ON THE SPOT

For removing deodorant, makeup and baby powder from clothing, try Miss Oops Rescue Sponges. The handy, lightweight and reusable sponges come two to a pack and work on all fabrics. Plus, they're small enough to fit in a handbag for tackling stains on the go. missoops.com —N.P.

Picking Up the Threads

If you're looking to integrate a little bit of Eastern culture into your beauty services, check out Aesthetic VideoSource's Threading: The Ancient Art of Hair Removal DVD with Saira Soleri. Threading involves precisely twisting cotton thread along unwanted hairs to trap them and lift them out of the follicle. Soleri demonstrates how to thread the face, ears, arms, legs and feet, and explains the benefits of threading, tools and marketing. videoshelf.com —R.A.
