When Dee Adames showed America her "shear genius" by winning the title on Bravo's TV series, it was clear she should take her passion and talent for hair artistry to the public. In December, Adames opened D&L Hair Studio in Miami with her business partner, Laila Taheri.
D&L takes a fresh approach to services, with menu offerings like Texture Hair Art, involving chemical relaxing and straightening; brow detailing; Hair Painting, using nontraditional techniques like art brushes to apply natural highlights; Make-Up On-the-Go; and Hair Therapy. The modern design of the salon includes stainless steel, blue tile, black accents and a Paul Mitchell color bar. The salon also features SpectraLights, which possess a spectrum closely matching the sun's that allows true colors to be seen indoors for perfect haircolor results. The studio's six styling stations are also equipped with the Freestylist Support System, which suspends dryers from the ceiling, supporting their total weight and reducing pain and fatigue stylists feel from the repetitive motion associated with blow-drying.

To customize the venue even more, D&L Hair Studio showcases original art, including Adames' and the staff's own work, as well as pieces by local artists. "The whole atmosphere of the salon is eclectic," Adames says. "It's where modern meets classic and it's about letting loose and having fun."
