WARREN-TRICOMI SALON

The Plaza Hotel in New York City, known for its historic opulence and celebrity guests, received a glamorous new look after a three-year renovation. With the opening of a flagship Warren-Tricomi Salon, it's giving clients the chance to get a makeover, too. For their new 6,100-square-foot, three-level space, Joel Warren and Edward Tricomi took inspiration from the minimalistic chic of the '60s, with a color palette of black and cream. Luxurious touches include custom-fluted travertine stone, black granite flooring, theatrical lighting, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, pedicure stations with bowls made of one-of-a-kind Murano glass and electronic reclining massage chairs. The upper level of the salon features cut and color sections, which are separated by a partition that's an exact replica of one of the walls in The Plaza, and an isolated makeup and eyebrow area, while the lower level has manicure and pedicure stations and a private VIP room with its own entrance. The middle floor houses the reception and retail areas, where guests can shop for Warren-Tricomi products via handheld devices that also allow them to book future appointments. —L.M.
