It's in the Cards

February 1, 2009 By: Nicole Palmieri American Salon

DopDop Salon owner Jo Blackwell-Preston loves her New York City salon's business card because no matter which way you turn it, it always says "dop." What's more, the "d" and the "p" are exactly the same letter repeated. The raised font on the card is a hand-drawn, modified version of the Bodoni font, which makes it totally unique. Blackwell-Preston chose the gold and blue colors for their regal and classic nature. "I wanted the business card to be timeless," she says. As for the name of her salon, Blackwell-Preston chose DopDop, the name of a French baby shampoo. She says, "I didn't want to use my name because at DopDop, we work as a team under one umbrella." —N.P.
