BOUNCING BACK
Voluminous looks are in again for the fall season.
From the runway to the red carpet, bouncy, full-bodied hairstyles are making a comeback this fall, a refreshing change from the stick-straight styles that have been so popular recently. "At fall fashion week 2009, it was all about exaggerated fullness and extra lift at the roots seen at shows like Louis Vuitton, Luella Bartley and Jean Paul Gaultier," says renowned editorial stylist Guido, who created the full-bodied look for Redken seen at Chloé's Paris show. "We chose to do the voluminous waves at Chloé in conjunction with the overall mood of the collection. The feeling was a casually glamorous woman, chic and unpretentious. We used Redken's Rootful 06 root lifting spray to promote volume and bounce and a little Glass 01 smoothing serum afterward to promote healthy glossy hair."

Matrix celebrity stylist Mark Townsend is also creating voluminous looks for his A-list clients, who include Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon and Amy Adams. "No more flat hair," he says. "I'm so glad that big, bouncy, healthy hair is in again." Townsend, who is a big fan of roller sets, recently got Adams ready for the premiere of Julie & Julia by setting her hair in barrel curls, then brushing it out with a flat brush. "I think she's a completely modern version of old-school Hollywood glamour," he says.
