Repêchage Holds 11 th International Congress
Lydia and David Sarfati, founders of Repêchage, hosted the 11th International Congress for Salon and Spa Professionals at New York City's Park Central Hotel. The two-day conference featured four tracks—Treatment, Salon & Spa Business, Public Relations, and Marketing and Financial Planning. There was also a presentation from Lydia and Director of Research and Development Susan Piso about Repêchage's new Hydra Dew Express Lift Moisture Mask, a noninvasive alternative to Botox. The conference concluded with the Awards Night Gala Dinner, where awards were presented to Body Sense Day Spa in Hyannis, MA (Day Spa Category), Colonial House in North Easton, MA (Skin Care Category), and Tatewari Spa in Mexico (Destination Category). President's Awards of Excellence went to Three-13 Salon, Spa & Boutique in Atlanta, GA, and Oasis Day Spa in South Weymouth, MA. —L.M.
Joico Contest Winner Receives Celebrity Makeover
Joico's recent Hair Story contest invited people to send in their dramatic tales of bad hair days; the best entries were then posted online to be voted on by the public. The winner, Eleanore Thomas of Newcastle, DE, received a trip to Los Angeles and a complete makeover with Joico Celebrity Stylist George Papanikolas, who has worked on such A-listers as Britney Spears and Megan Fox. Thomas, who described her "Elle-Fro" as a big frizzy mess, had her locks tamed and transformed, thanks to caramel highlights and Joico K-PAK Color Therapy Shampoo, Conditioner and Restorative Styling Oil. "What was life even like before the Joico contest? I can't recall," Thomas said. "The makeover was truly amazing" —L.M.
