Deanita Brown

Deanita Brown is the owner of Textures Hair Studio in Decatur, GA, and an educator for Farouk Systems. Brown is actively involved in the One Accord Church of God and Christ in Decatur. "We have a female pastor, and I've learned a lot about catering to women by following her example," says Brown, for whom giving back means helping her clients realize their full potential. "When someone allows you to be over their person, their body, they're at their most vulnerable, and I don't take it for granted," says Brown, who adapts her speech, even her body language to accommodate her clients. By finding out where they are in their lives, Brown feels that she's able to help her clients attain their goals and leave in a better place than when they came in. —M.D.
