Business trainer and consultant Neil Ducoff, founder of Strategies Publishing Company, has some great advice for those of us living in a pressure cooker: Take care of yourself. A year ago he took his own advice, and he's a new man for having done so. "I was fried and out of gas," says Ducoff, who took a three-month sabbatical, read a book called Younger Next Year (Workman Publishing, 2007) by Chris Crowley and Henry S. Lodge, M.D., and followed the book's recommendations. "I committed to going to the gym every day rather than my usual every other day," says Ducoff, who felt the difference within a week. That's when he decided to kick it up a notch. He not only joined a spin class, but he also bought a road bike, doing 10, then 20, then 30 miles per ride. The gist of the book is that you can live like you're 50 until you're 80 and beyond. Ducoff, who is 58, says he's in the best shape of his life. What's more, he's happier than he's ever been. —M.D.
